EVANS TO STAY AT GILLS – SCALLY

Stevenage declare interest in experienced boss

STEVENAGE remain interested in Steve Evans and have not abandoned their pursuit of the Gillingham boss.
Boro, who sacked Alex Revell last weekend, made a formal approach to speak to Evans on Tuesday.
However, this was turned down by Gills owner Paul Scally, with reports suggesting the move faltered over a demand for £130,000 in compensation.
In a statement, Scally said: “Further to recent media speculation the club can confirm that manager Steve Evans is contracted to Gillingham Football Club until June 30th, 2022.
