DEPARTING FLYNN APPLAUDS EXILES

MICHAEL Flynn has paid a heartfelt thanks to Newport County for giving him his start in management after stepping down as boss.
The 40-year-old spent four-and-a-half years in charge of his home-town club and saved them from relegation from the Football League in his first couple of months in charge.
He also led the Exiles to famous FA Cup victories over Leeds, Leicester and Middlesbrough and took them to two League Two play-off finals at Wembley. They agonisingly lost 1-0 in extra-time in both, to Tranmere in 2019 and Morecambe last term.
