LUHUKAY HAS FINE LINE TO TREAD AT OWLS

SHEFFIELD Wednesday appointed Jos Luhukay for two reasons. One is his record as a promotion specialist. The other is his reputation as a disciplinarian. Both carry caveats.
From Stale Solbakken to Roland Duchatelet, the Championship has ambushed anyone foolish enough to equate it to second tiers elsewhere in Europe.
Bundesliga 2, where Luhukay made his name, boasts teams and players on a par with anything the Championship offers. Kaiserslautern, German champions in 1998, attract crowds of 40,000-plus and can field several internationals. Overall, though, competition is far less intense.
