Can Man City improve in this championship?

F.C., commonly abbreviated as Man City, is one of the best-known teams that regularly compete in the English . They are among the elite group of EPL teams, otherwise known as the ‘big six'.

As the name suggests, Man City is a Manchester-based team founded in 1880 as St. Marks'. In 1887, it was rebranded as the Ardwick Association Football Club and finally took the baton of Manchester City in 1894.

To date, the Man City championship has won the Premier League title five times. Under Pep Guardiola's mentorship, they won the EPL trophy in 2018 and became the first team in Premier League history to score over 100 points in a single season. Currently, they are also the Premier League champions.

Can Man City 2021 repeat history and script a fairy tale? Let's find out!

How can Manchester City Club improve in this EPL season?

For the first time in a while, loyal Man City fans have been disappointed in the club since they dropped significant points for the second time this season. Manchester City F.C. had reclaimed their coveted English crown from F.C. last season while securing the EPL title with a total of 86 points. They were also ahead of the Reds in third and in the second.

However, leading to 's 0-0 draw, the former Premier League champions now find themselves just three points away from the summit. The reigning champions seemed frustrated during the game, especially with their opponent's pressing tactics. Not to mention, the absence of footballers Rodri and Aymeric Laporte have appeared to cost the team greatly.

Despite the failing hurdles, no English Premier League fan can deny that Man City has enjoyed a very fruitful campaign this season.

The question now remains, what can they do to improve this season and maintain their continued success?

Man City F.C. manager Pep Guardiola has also publicly mentioned what the team needs to do to improve in the Man City championship. According to his statement, the last match was not a match that Pep Guardiola enjoyed, and he even struggled to recognize his team.

Guardiola and fans are deeply frustrated by his team's dire performance against the Saints. And, in response to that, Pep Guardiola has stated that his team needs intensive practice to regain form.

Guardiola's mentorship cannot be questioned here since, under his leadership, Man City F.C has reached neigh heights and even won the championship and Premier League Title. Further, the manager has commented that the time needs to be reminded about the value of practice. Through practice, Man City has been at the top for years, and it is how they will continue to be at the top.

The team's supporters and fans have highly criticized the football club's performance. This may even be their worst performance in years. The poor performance of the winger and attacking midfielder Raheem Sterling, who operates as a number nine, was notably criticized.

Fans Opinion on Manchester City Club's Improvement

However, football fans are of a different opinion. They strongly believe that Man City F.C. can only improve if they fix their transfer policy. The Manchester City Club may be decent on paper, but with the amount they are investing in the team, Man City F.C. should easily be making it to the quarter-finals every year.

Ways to improve the transfer policy include investing in young talent. Fans believe that Man City deliberately buys players that are old, say 26 or 27 years old. Players of the age may be more experienced than young talent, but they lack the form and agility of the younger players.

This is also primarily why has been world-class in the past decade, especially with Jose Mourinho's leadership. Chelsea's policy involves selling fringe players such as David Luiz, Mata, Lukaku, De Bruyne, and so on, and instead of recruiting players, they can utilize, such as Diego Costa. This is how Chelsea has maintained its elite position for the past ten years.

Similarly, if Man City wants to become elite, they have to adopt a similar policy.

Pep Guardiola on Man City F.C.'s performance

As we discussed, Pep Guardiola has claimed full responsibility for the team's player and has also publicly stated that he feels guilty for the club's loyal fans after the Southampton stalemate.

On a positive note, after Sunday's defeat, Guardiola has said that there are still many guys ahead of them, and it is a long season. Therefore, improvement is possible, and the team will do everything they can to maintain their championship.

Credit where credit is due, Pep Guardiola is not to be blamed for the club's poor performance. Under his mentorship, Man City has emerged victorious not just once but at frequent times.

In fact, throughout the campaign season, Guardiola has accumulated about 140 fewer shots than he had done in the season before. Additionally, there has been a significant and valuable defence improvement with the addition of 24-year-old Portuguese footballer Ruben Dias.
