Struggling pools plump for Askey

York's loss has proved to be Hartlepool’s gain after the struggling League Two side appointed John Askey to save them from relegation to Non-League.
Askey, 58, led York to promotion from National League North last term but was controversially sacked in November by unpopular owner Glen Henderson.
Pre-weekend, the Minstermen had since tumbled from 12th to 18th in the National League, with Askey’s name routine- ly sung at home matches.
