Neil Harris declared the fifth promotion of his lengthy managerial career as “the toughest” as Cambridge United celebrated a swift return to the third tier after drawing at Crewe Alexandra.
Salford City’s failure to clinch a win at Crawley Town meant Harris’ side claimed the third automatic promotion spot a year after relegation.
Harris was quick to highlight the role of Mark Bonner – as director of football – in steering the transformation of the club after last term’s misery.
