Salford City boss Karl Robinson accused referee Lee Swabey of “making the biggest mistake of the entire afternoon” after the Ammies were denied a penalty as they missed out on automatic promotion at Crawley Town.
Cambridge United’s draw at Crewe Alexandra meant that Salford had a chance to pip them for the third automatic promotion spot with victory.
However, they lacked a cutting edge at the Broadfield Stadium as that match ended goalless, with Crawley clinching their EFL survival.
