He might have made his senior debut for Manchester City at Wembley, but Ben Knight has confessed he was close to quitting the game before his home-town club Cambridge United handed him a chance to resurrect his career last year.

At the age of 19, Knight came on as a 74th-minute substitute for Spain striker Ferran Torres during the 2021 Community Shield 1-0 defeat to Leicester City.
But injury-affected loan spells with Crewe Alexandra and Stockport County followed before the ex-England under-18 international left the Etihad in 2024 and signed for Spanish third-tier outfit Real Murcia.
