Former Brazil striker Alexandre Pato is set to become co-owner of Northampton Town after a takeover of the League Two club was rubber-stamped by the Independent Football Regulator.

Pato, 37, is part of the Sports Alpha Capital consortium which has agreed to buy the club from current owner Kelvin Thomas.
Widely regarded as one of the most promising forwards of his generation, Pato scored 57 goals in 125 games for AC Milan before suffering a succession of injuries.
He also won 27 caps for Brazil, scoring ten times, and spent a brief spell on loan at Chelsea in the 2015-16 campaign.
