MK Dons secure sixth straight win by beating 10-man Chesterfield

MK Dons

MK Dons made it six straight League Two wins with a 3-0 victory at home to 10-man Chesterfield.

Scott Hogan gave them a first-minute lead before Chesterfield had Darren Oldaker sent off.

Alex Gilbey scored twice as the Dons secured the points and the Spireites suffered a third defeat in four league games.

MK Dons had not played in just over two weeks but returned to action with a goal inside 15 seconds as Hogan tapped home Joe Pritchard’s cross.

Chesterfield came close when Liam Mandeville was denied by home goalkeeper Tom McGill.

But the visitors then saw the already-booked Oldaker receive a second yellow for dissent, earning a 24th-minute red card.

MK Dons made it 2-0 less than two minutes later as Aaron Nemane’s cross was converted by Gilbey.

Chesterfield keeper Max Thompson made a string of saves and the visitors almost got a goal back when substitute Ryan Colclough hit a post.

But MK Dons scored a third in the 82nd minute as Gilbey collected Tom Carroll’s pass and found the bottom corner.
