Joe Gardner was consoled by Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala after his Imps debut cameo ended with a quickfire red card in a draw against Cambridge United.
The Nottingham Forest loanee, who was brought on as a sub after 81 minutes, was only on the pitch for around four minutes when he saw red for a challenge on James Brophy.
The incident summed up City’s plight after they failed to beat bottom-side Cambridge.
Freddie Draper’s opening goal was cancelled out by James Gibbons before Gardner was sent off.
