Match off after fans invade pitch
Fed-up Reading fans stepped up their campaign to oust despised owner Dai Yongge by invading the pitch and causing yesterday's match against Port Vale to be abandoned.
Play was halted at 0-0 in the 17th minute after around 1,000 home supporters invaded the pitch in the latest protest against Chinese supremo Yongge, who is trying to sell the club.
Last month fans protested at the Houses of Parliament against Yongge following sanctions imposed by the EFL.
In a statement, the EFL said: “Every effort was made to restart the game but it became increasingly obvious that this would not be possible. We will now discuss the implications of this afternoon's events with the clubs involved.”
Bolton's game against Cheltenham was also abandoned yesterday, due to a medical emergency in the crowd.
