Takeover gives boss Simpson big boost

Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson says the Cumbrians can target a “different pool” of players following a long-awaited takeover by the Piatek family.
The Piateks, from Florida, have pledged to clear Carlisle’s £2.6m debts and promised a “step change” in Simpson’s January budget.
“I’m absolutely delighted it’s finally completed,” said Simpson, whose side began the weekend 22nd in League One following last season’s promotion. “I know the family are delighted as well, they are really chuffed and can’t wait to get over here and get started.
