Tonda Eckert said he was ‘proud’ to have become Southampton’s permanent manager – and immediately set his sights on promotion.
After replacing Will Still in the hotseat on an interim basis, the 32-year-old German led Saints to four wins in five games, a run that saw them climb away from the Championship’s lower reaches.
That was good enough to land the job full-time, with his appointment confirmed on Friday on a contract until 2027.
