McCleary puts pen to paper on new Reading deal

The Jamaica international, 29, has been a Reading player since 2012, and has made over 170 appearances for the club since joining from Nottingham Forest.

winger Garath McCleary has put pen to paper on a new deal at the club that will keep him in Berkshire until 2020.

The Jamaica international, 29, has been a Reading player since 2012, and has made over 170 appearances for the club since joining from Nottingham .

With eight goals, he is also Reading’s top-scorer this season as the currently sit fourth in the , eight points off in second, and Jaap is delighted McCleary has extended his stay with the club.

Speaking to Reading’s official website, manager Stam said: “I’m very happy that Garath has signed a new deal – he has been a very important player for us this season, not only in the goals that he has scored but also in the assists he has provided to others in the squad.

“A lot of clubs nowadays are looking for players with the qualities he has – his pace, his ability on the ball and the threat he poses in and around the opposition penalty box.

“So it is great that he has signed this new contract at the club.”
