Young Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish is currently under internal investigation at the club, according to manager Roberto Di Matteo, after reports surfaced of his involvement in an all-night party.

At quarter to eight on Sunday morning, police were called to a hotel in Birmingham after complaints of a rowdy party having taken place, which, according to the Daily Mail, was attended by Grealish.

Speaking to Radio West Midlands, Di Matteo said: “We are aware of an incident at the weekend.

“We started an internal investigation about it, which is still ongoing. When we finish the investigation, we will see what disciplinary action to take.”

Although no arrests were made, and Grealish was not one of the 12 party-goers to be ejected, the 21-year-old does have a history of controversial escapades.

In 2015, when Tim Sherwood was still in charge of the side, Grealish was warned by his boss that ‘his behaviour can’t be tolerated’ after pictures emerged of him apparently inhaling nitrous oxide.

Similarly, Grealish was in trouble with Remi Garde last season, and told to train with the youth team, when it was reported that he visited a night-club after Villa lost 4-0 to Everton.

Grealish, who was born in Solihull and come through the youth ranks at Villa, signed a new contract on the 7th September, after his impressive form so far this season.

He is a key part of Di Matteo’s plans and is rated highly at the club, but the Italian said: “We expect our players to behave in a professional manner at all times, so it is something that we don’t tolerate..

“It’s important that he understands what he has, and he needs to grow up very quickly.”
