Preston have signed defender Tommy Spurr following his release by Blackburn Rovers.
Spurr moves to Deepdale on a three-year deal having spent three seasons at Rovers, and revealed his eagerness for the season to get underway after being impressed when coming up against the Lilywhites' last season.
Speaking about the move he said: “As soon as Preston showed their interest, with the way they played last year and the information I got from the gaffer about the type of group there is here, it really appealed to me.
“I am delighted to have signed and now I am looking forward to getting started later this week. I can't wait to get going, to get training and to meet everyone and start playing games.”
The 28-year-old began his career at Sheffield Wednesday, making over 200 appearances across six years for the Owls.
He then had a spell at Doncaster Rovers where he was a League One title winner in 2012/13.
After his impressive performances he then joined Blackburn in 2013, making over 80 appearances, but turned down the offer of a new deal at Ewood Park and was started looking for a new club.
Spurr will join fellow new signings Simon Makienok and Chris Maxwell as the squad return to training later this week, with the first friendly only 11 days away when the new signings will have their first chance of a run out against Bamber Bridge on Friday 8th July.
