Nottingham Forest have confirmed that caretaker manager Paul Williams has left the club.
The 45-year-old was first team coach at Forest before taking over as manager on a temporary basis after Dougie Freedman was sacked in March.
Williams won two of his ten games in charge of the Championship club and led them to a 16th place finish after Saturday's 2-1 victory at already relegated MK Dons.
It is believed that Williams was in discussions to continue on in a coaching capacity with Forest but talks have now broken down.
In a statement on Nottingham's official club website Williams said ‘I would like to thank the fans for all their support since I took charge.
‘Although we struggled with results at first, I felt our performances were strong and the lads gave me everything they had.
‘They, along with the staff, are a good honest group and I will always appreciate the commitment and desire shown during my time here.
‘This club has so much potential and when you see the backing the club receives from the supporters both home and away I truly hope they are rewarded for their loyalty with success on the pitch.'
At the moment it is unclear how far down the line of appointing a new manager Forest currently are.
