Winger seizes his second chance

When Paul Smyth was released by QPR in the summer of 2021, he refused to abandon his dream of playing in the Championship.
Four years on, the 27-yearold winger hasn’t just fulfilled it - he’s one of the first names on Marti Cifuentes’ team-sheet.
“I’m loving every minute of it,” says the Northern Irishman, which is more than can be said for his first stint at Loftus Road.
Signed from Linfield as a 19-year-old in 2017, Smyth scored twice in 13 games and was named supporters’ young player of the year in his first campaign.
