Preston beat Argyle to go back on top
Delighted manager Ryan Lowe hailed his troops as Preston North End went back to the top of the Championship thanks to victory over his former club Plymouth Argyle.
Duane Holmes' strike after just 38 seconds gave the Lilywhites the perfect start at Deepdale, with debutant Liam Millar doubling that advantage after 25 minutes.
Steven Schumacher, who succeeded Lowe at Home Park after working as his No.2, changed things around at half-time and Ryan Hardie pulled one back on the hour.
Lowe said: “The lads put everything on the line to make sure they came away with the three points.
“In the first half we were well worthy of the two really fast start and the second half was always going to be tough.
“It was good for me and the coaches because we were thinking all the time and I know Schuey will have been, so it was a great battle.”
Preston moved a point clear of Leicester at the summit.
