Dean Smith’s rancorous departure from Norwich City has given rise to some bizarre reports, not least the suggestion that Steve Bruce has been approached to take charge.
The 61-year-old may be a former Canaries player, but nothing about his recent work at West Brom and Newcastle inspires confidence and it is stretching credulity to imagine that Stuart Webber, City’s sporting director, would risk such a divisive appointment after the spectacular souring of Smith’s relationship with supporters.
