Middlesbrough offload Kike to Eibar

Middlesbrough have sold striker Kike to La Liga side Eibar for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old netted 16 times in 75 appearances for Boro after joining the club in July 2014 from Murcia.

The Spaniard’s first-team opportunities looked set to be limited at Middlesbrough following the signing of Jordan Rhodes and both the club and the player have come to the agreement that his future lies elsewhere.

Unfortunately for the striker, due to complications with the deal he will be unable to play for Eibar until next season.

Eibar have attracted much attention in recent years for their fairytale story of reaching the summit of Spanish football despite coming from a town of just 27,000 residents, having a stadium that can only hold 6,000 people, and competing with a vastly inferior budget.

With the Spanish club currently flying high in La Liga there is every chance that Kike could be playing Europa League football in is debut season with Eibar.
