Owls loan Ireland international McGeady

Sheffield have completed the loan signing of winger Aiden McGeady on loan for the duration of the season.

The 29-year-old has made just one appearance for the Toffees this season and adds more creative flair to the midfield alongside Ross Wallace and Fernando Forestieri.

McGeady, capped 76 times by Ireland, began his career with Celtic where he would play in 24 ‘Old Firm’ derbies before moving to Russian club Spartak Moscow.

A move back to the British Isles followed in January 2014, but McGeady has now been allowed to spend the rest of the season at Hillsborough despite Everton’s struggles.

Owls boss said: “He’s a player that can improve the team and will help us in the second part of the season.

“It was good for him to play in different cultures, he understands different systems, different ways to play.

“He has a big personal challenge because he wants to be in the European () with the national team.

“He can play on the left, on the right, he can play also behind the striker. You want to bring these players to your team because they have quality.”
