PHIL Parkinson hailed his disciplined Black Cats for showing the steel to cling on for victory at Oxford – and boost their promotion chances.
Sunderland’s seventh clean sheet in eight games helped secure all three points after Oxford pushed hard for an equaliser in difficult conditions.
Centre-half Jordan Willis scored the winner in just the third minute, getting in front of defender John Mousinho to glance in Chris Maguire’s corner from the left.
