SOUTHEND have been dealt a blow with the news that Stephen Humphrys requires an operation on facial injuries.
The 21-year-old striker was hurt as he scored the opening goal in the 1-1 draw at Accrington.
Boss Chris Powell said: “It was a real brave effort to put us ahead, but sadly he’s suffered a horrendous injury; well injuries.
“Stephen broke his nose, his cheekbone and a slight fracture of his eye socket, and concussion.
“He’s travelled down south and is seeing a consultant with regards to moving forward, but he will have an operation.
