DEANSmith has admitted that Aston Villa are struggling to deal with the busy festive schedule.
The quick turnaround between matches has allowed Smith little time to rest his players and bring others back from injury.
He said: “The matchday squad at the minute is what we have.
“Callum O’Hare is injured at the moment and Jake Doyle-Hayes is ill. We’re down to the bare bones at the moment.
“We’ll look to build up that squad and be fit to fight in the second half of the season.”
