COD ARMY HONOUR WAR HERO

LEAGUE ONE
FLEETWOOD have unveiled a plaque in tribute to First World War hero and former player Sheard Salthouse.
He was the only member of their entire 1914 playing squad who lost his life after signing up to fight in the war.
A member of the Royal Lancaster Regiment, he was just 25 when he was killed in action in Frenzenberg, Belgium, in the Second Battle of Ypres on May 4, 1915.
Salthouse, the only known player to have died fighting on the Western front, has been honoured with a plaque at Fleetwood’s Poolfoot Farm training base.
