Bolton Wanderers create new Supporters’ Trust

Wanderers fans have joined forces to create a supporters trust.

Over 1,000 fans were present at the Macron Stadium last night along with former player Kevin Davies and the club’s current financial adviser Trevor Burch as the new trust was announced.

The new supporters trust pledged to support any new owners but it is unclear whether they will attempt to launch a takeover bid themselves.

Bolton have faced huge financial troubles this season and have been placed under a transfer embargo for the rest of the season having failed to submit their required accounts. They are currently facing debts of £172.9m and were issued with a winding up petition by revenue and customs in December.

Current owner Eddie Davies has put the club up for sale but as of yet no agreement has been reached with any potential consortium.

The Trotters are currently sitting at the bottom of the table and are four points adrift from safety.
