Bolton's Max Clayton will miss the next four months after he sustained a hamstring injury in last week's 1-1 draw with Brentford.
The news comes as a cruel blow for the 21-year old who missed six months of action last season after suffering an cruciate ligament in his right knee
Clayton joined Bolton in June 2014 from Crewe Alexandra. He made 74 appearances for the Cheshire club over a three year period scoring nine goals.
Bolton manager Neil Lennon told reporters, “It's a blow for Max and of course for the squad.
He's a great lad and we'll be with him every step of the way throughout his recovery period.”
The Trotters have been hampered by off the field problems this season and are currently sitting at the bottom of the Championship table, three points adrift of 23rd place Rotherham.
