Gary Bowyer sacked as Blackburn manager

have relieved of his managerial duties at the club.

The 44-year old was appointed as Blackburn's full time boss in May 2013 after a successful six months as caretaker manager.

Bowyer's side finished in eighth position in the after his first full season in charge at Ewood Park and the club achieved a respectable ninth place finish last season.

However, Blackburn have had a poor start to this season and Bowyer leaves the Lancashire club struggling near the wrong end of the table having only won three games this campaign.

A statement on the club's official website read “The owners felt that following a disappointing start to the season, they have to act in order to give the club the best chance of success in the remainder of the campaign

Incredibly Bowyer has now become the eighth Championship manager to have been sacked since the beginning of the season.
