Shocks were thin on the ground, but the FA Cup certainly delivered on the goals front – there were a whopping 71 in 19 ties yesterday!

Coventry led the way with half-a-dozen in their 6-2 romp against Oxford, while the Championship’s leading scorer Sammie Szmodics helped himself to a hat-trick in Blackburn’s entertaining 5-2 win against Cambridge.

Southampton swatted Walsall aside 4-0, while Sheffield Wednesday beat Cardiff by the same score.

Stoke lost out 4-2 to Brighton, while Preston and Gillingham were beaten 4-0 by Chelsea and Sheffield United respectively.

Championship leaders Leicester triumphed 3-2 at Millwall. QPR let slip a 2-0 lead to go down 3-2 at home against Bournemouth and Sunderland were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle in their big north-east derby.

Watford scrambled past National League leaders Chesterfield with an injury-time winner from Tom Dele-Bashiru in a 2-1 victory, but League One Stevenage suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at National League South side Maidstone United.
