Jon Dahl Tomasson was delighted to see Sammie Szmodics claim his first-ever match ball after a superb hat-trick helped Blackburn overcome a dogged Cambridge United.
Rovers trailed twice, to Jack Lankester’s curling effort and Sullay Kaikai’s volley. In between those goals, Szmodics swept home and he brought Rovers level again with a typically clinical strike.
