…but Canaries are crushed
It proved a magic day for Ipswich fans yesterday – their favourites beat Blackburn 4-3 in a thriller while arch-rivals Norwich were hammered 6-2 at Plymouth!
The Tractor Boys withstood a second half Rovers comeback to take the spoils thanks to Massimo Luongo's 79th-minute winner. It put Kieran McKenna's side second in the Championship behind new leaders Leicester, who beat Bristol City 1-0, on goal difference.
McKenna said: “There were lots of good things in the performance, lots of things to learn, things to improve, but the quality of the players, the spirit, the effort was there for all to see and we deserved the points.”
Meanwhile, Norwich boss David Wagner was left fuming after his side's humbling at Home Park. Morgan Whittaker led the way with a hat-trick for the Pilgrims, who led 4-0 at the break.
“It was a horrible afternoon for us,” said Wagner. “I am very angry about how we responded after we conceded the first goal.”
