Forest plotting move for winger Morgan

Just days after their defeat to fierce rivals Derby County, Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for St Mirren youngster Lewis Morgan. The 21-year-old is making quite the name for himself north of the boarder, with both Celtic and Rangers believed to be keeping a close eye on the winger. With Morgan’s current Scottish club thought to want up to £500,000 for the Scottish Under-21 international, there could yet well be another arrival from that part of the world at the City Ground.

Forest boss Mark Warburton is thought to have been impressed by Morgan during his time in charge at Rangers, with Burton Albion having had a £200,000 for the youngster rejected over the summer. With eight goals in just 14 matches for St Mirren so far this season, it is perhaps little wonder that Morgan is receiving such high praise and interest.

The Reds are certainly in need of some additional attacking options, with their lack of firepower just one of the reasons as to why they sit in 14th position in the Championship standings. Of course, any transfer would have to wait until the January transfer window at the earliest, with the Scottish club unlikely to be keen on losing their prized asset half way through the campaign. Forest take on former boss Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion this weekend, with accumulator tips and predictions from BetAndSkill.com helping you pin-point where your money might go, should you be a betting person.

With a tough run of games ahead for Forest, including trips to both Hull City and Reading, boss Warburton is under pressure to deliver by fans at the City Ground. As well as their attacking disappointments, Forest also have one of the worst defensive record in the Championship, demonstrated by the opening minute goal scored by Derby County at the weekend. If such a run continues, then it could well be a busy January transfer window for Warburton and owner Evangelos Marinakis, with the Greek millionaire having only become the majority shareholder at the club back in May of this year.

Forest already have a trio of Scottish talent at the club, with Barrie McKay, Danny Fox and Jason Cummings having all started in their latest defeat. However, with Morgan out of contract next summer, it could well be that Forest are one of the leading names in the battle for his signature. Morgan recently featured for Scotland’s Under-21 side in a 3-1 defeat against England, where on loan midfielder Kieran Dowell was an unused substitute. Meanwhile, fellow youngster Joe Worrall is still awaiting his first appearance for England Under-21 team.

Elsewhere for Forest, the club have stated that they will take their time before replacing Jack Lester, with the former fans favourite having given up his position as Under-23 coach in order to take over as manager of Chesterfield, who are currently struggling in League Two. Academy chief Gary Brazil will oversee the side while Forest search for a replacement.
