Chelsea vs Liverpool FA Cup Finals details announced

Chelsea and Liverpool meet in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 14, with all formalities finalised ahead of the showpiece match next month. After securing a spot in the final earlier this month, the Premier League rivals are poised to battle at Wembley Stadium.

While the date has already been confirmed, Thomas Tuchel’s team has also been given some more information. The game is due to begin at 4:45 p.m., with Craig Pawson serving as the match referee. Here are some details on the upcoming match from Vietnamese sports news platform Vwin.

The Blues have also been informed of the colours they will be wearing for the match. Chelsea will wear their yellow away kit, while Liverpool will wear their usual red.

Jurgen Klopp’s team qualified for the FA Cup final after defeating Manchester City 3-2 courtesy of Sadio Mane’s brace and Ibrahima Konate’s header.

Liverpool was scheduled to play Southampton in the Premier League on that weekend, but the match was postponed as the Reds attempted to complete an unprecedented quadruple.

Chelsea, on the other hand, defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 to reach their third final in a row.

Tuchel, of course, will be hoping to lead the Blues to the FA Cup final, as they have been thwarted on their past two trips to the final in the last two years. They lost to Arsenal during the height of the Covid-19 outbreak, and Leicester City triumphed at Wembley Stadium last season, with Youri Tielemans’ stunning strike being the difference between the two teams.

Chelsea has reached this season’s final after defeating Chesterfield, Plymouth Argyle, Luton Town, Middlesbrough, and Premier League opponents Crystal Palace. On their way to the Wembley finale, Liverpool defeated Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City.

The match under the arch next month is an intriguing rematch of this season’s Carabao Cup final. After a 0-0 tie in extra time, Liverpool won the game in a penalty shootout.

A number of Chelsea players have spoken of their desire to exact revenge on Jurgen Klopp’s side, a sentiment echoed by Tuchel.

Speaking to the press earlier this week, the gaffer said: “Good! Of course we feel it. Was so close. Wasn’t last season or two years ago. For a couple of weeks we lost in the same stadium on a pretty similar occasion.

“Now it is an even bigger cup. Of course it’s a traditional cup, it has these similarities and of course it seems like you can come back. That’s what it’s about in sports, if you lose against a team in such short notice it feels a bit like ‘come on let’s turn things around quickly’. Call it revenge, it doesn’t matter. We all have this competitive feeling, it’s clear.”

The FA remains Chelsea’s only hope for silverware this season after pulling out of the Premier League race earlier in the season. On the other hand, Klopp’s men are looking to be the first side to win the quadruple after a spectacular season. The Reds have already secured the Carabao Cup, and could be in the European Champions League finals if they can defeat La Liga side Villareal on Tuesday night. They are also in the race for the Premier League title, although they trail Manchester City by a point, with four games left to play.
