A look at the race for the Championship title

The Championship season is always a competitive one, as sides push for the lucrative Premier league football. The betting markets also have it the same way and it remains very close at the top for sides pushing for promotion, with a limited number of points separating many of the sides in the top half of the table. So, with this being the case, here we look at the race for the Championship title, as based on the betting, it appears it is between five sides.

The current favourites at a general 9/4 are Bournemouth. These new betting sites listed have been used to support the side, who remain the most popular bet for the title. Following the opening 18 matches of the campaign they are in second and just three points off the top. They have also only been beaten twice, which puts them as the leading side in the league in that statistic. The side are looking to bounce back to the top flight, following five years in succession in the Premier league. They were relegated last season, as they finished with just one point less than the 17th placed side and rate strong contenders for promotion and must have a real chance of also winning the Championship title.

Next in the betting at a general 11/4 are Norwich. They are top of the table, following the opening 18 matches and are short odds to gain promotion. Many also fancy them to win the title, following relegation from the Premier league last season. Norwich are another side who look to have a very strong chance of clinching the title.

Brentford are then third in the betting at 11/2, as they look to progress into the top flight, following their near miss last season. They finished the season incredibly strong to finish in third and just two points behind West Brom. Brentford were then beaten in the play-off final by Fulham and will now be looking to build on this. They appear to be building into the season and another strong finish could see promotion and even a push for the title.

Watford were the third side relegated from the Premier league but are also amongst the favourites for the Championship title this season and can be supported at a general 13/2. There relegation was a shock, so they will be looking to bounce back right away. The side have also made a strong start and are just four points off top spot, following the opening 18 matches, so rate solid contenders for the title.

The final side to mention is Swansea, who are fifth in the betting at a general 14/1. They are also looking to return to the top flight and finished down in sixth last season. Swansea have made a strong start this campaign and are just four points off the top, following the opening 18 matches. They also have a solid chance of promotion or a push for the title.
