SAM Hammam was the father of Wimbledon’s famous Crazy Gang, taking the club from the Fourth Division into the First Division and winning the FA Cup.
And when he took over Cardiff City towards the end of the first year of the new millennium, he set about using the same blueprint on a small scale in South Wales.
Hammam soon became a cult hero in the Welsh capital for taking part in their ‘do the Ayatollah’ chant despite at one stage pledging to change the club name to The Cardiff Celts.
