Chris Wilder placed Sheffield United in lockdown this week, granting no player interviews to anyone except fee-paying rights holders.
If he’d been allowed, the 57-year-old would have banned those, too.
It was a strategy designed to dampen the hype, and to insulate his team from any talk of high stakes and six-pointers and all the other razzmatazz that accompanies a top-of-the-table showdown at the business end of the season.
