Player Profile: Luca Kjerrumgaard – Watford’s great Dane proving a handful in the Championship

Watford’s 6ft 4ins Dane is no hulking targetman. He is a finisher, as demonstrated by the brace of close-range headers he scored in last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Norwich City.

On the day Luca Kjerrumgaard signed his first professional contract with Odense Boldklub in 2019, he was asked to describe himself as a footballer.
“I would call myself a box striker,” he explained. “I really like being inside the box – I can score goals really well.
He added: “I think I have a good shot and that I am good at heading - but I probably should be when I am this tall!”
His youth coach, Tonny Hermansen, put it more colourfully: “Luca is what we call a notorious goalscorer –he can duel and he can link play, but scoring goals is what he does best.”
