Midfielder Liam Noble has confirmed speculation that he would rejoin former club County by agreeing to sign an 18 month contract with ‘s side on 1 January.

The 26-year-old spent two seasons at Meadow Lane between 2014 and 2016, making 78 appearances and scoring 16 goals before joining at the start of last season.

Noble’s deal with ‘s side was only terminated recently, and outside of the transfer window, due to the player’s desire to move closer to his North East based family – meaning that the player will have to wait until the winter transfer window opens before he becomes a Magpie again officially.

In the meantime he will train full-time with the club and is eligible to feature in reserve team matches. His first game could come against on 6 January.

County manager Nolan spoke about the move in a press conference today, saying: “We’re delighted to have Liam on board.

“I had a good chat with him earlier in the week, and then with my staff. He’s coming into a different club now – we made our standards clear to him, he wants to prove a lot of people wrong.

“We were disappointed not to land him in the summer but the opportunity presented itself this week and it was a no-brainer.”
