boss was extremely keen to reunite with his former CSKA Moscow player Ahmed Musa at the KCOM this season.

Unfortunately for good old Leonid, the move didn't come off. had been looking to bring in fresh attacking options on deadline day last week, with Musa top of their list.

In the end, however, the forward decided to stay with Leicester despite the pull of his old manager.

“We came very close to Musa,” Slutsky said. “But not each decision depends on me or the club. I think maybe he wants to prove himself at Leicester and he needs one more attempt.

“He thought a lot and finally his decision was to stay at Leicester. The final decision was at midday on deadline day and we didn't have a chance to change Musa for another option.”

The 24-year-old was brought to Moscow by Slutsky in 2012 and enjoyed a productive four year spell in the Russian capital. He moved to Leicester for £16million last year but wasn't able to replicate the same success.

The Hull boss also stated that the club received no offers for Kamil Grosicki despite being heavily linked with the winger. Like Musa, Grosicki now has to stay with his club and fight for his place.
