It’s been a rough start to the season for . Second bottom of with just one win from five games, the pressure is already mounting on boss at Park.

He’s received an important vote of confidence from the chairman and CEO today, however, with both men preaching patience for the 40-year-old boss.

Chairman Tony Fradley told the Sentinel: “If you listen to Alan Shearer on Match of the Day he says you shouldn’t be thinking of anything like that [sacking the manager] for 10 league games. It’s not crossed my mind.

“I have seen Michael and his backroom staff build up and what has impressed me is the amount of background work that goes on for the players to be ready to play.”

CEO Colin Garlick said: “Let’s be patient and let’s be supportive, this is still in the early throes of the season.

“I have quoted my old club and [who went on a late run last season]. These things can happen, it is that early. I think we should maybe have a look at it once we get a dozen games under our belt and see where we are at that point.”

Port Vale face at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, with the hosts currently five points better off than ‘s side.
