New deal for Maddison as Posh star resists suitors

Highly-rated midfielder signs on for three more years at the ABAX Stadium.

He was linked with moves to a whole host of clubs, but instead ‘s star midfielder Marcus Maddison has signed a new contract with the club.

Maddison’s new three-year deal extends his stay at the ABAX Stadium, which started when he signed for the club from Gateshead in 2014.

Since then he has emerged as one of the preeminent creative forces in , and holding on to him represents a real coup for the League One table-toppers.

chairman announced the on Twitter yesterday, saying: “I am delighted to announce that Marcus Maddison has signed a new three year deal with the club. The best attacking midfielder outside the Championship stays.”

Manager also had his say: “I am delighted that Marcus has agreed to extend his stay with us. He has really bought into the group and since day one of -season he has worked extremely hard.

“Marcus is a real talent and I am looking forward to continue working with him.”

Maddison said: “I am delighted and I would like to thank the chairman and the manager for showing faith in me and I am buzzing for this season.

“We have made a good start, I am really enjoying working with this incredible group of players and let’s hope we can have a really good season.”
