Accrington add Sheffield Wednesday defender Thorniley on loan

have continued their summer recruitment drive today with the signing of defender Jordan Thorniley on a season-long loan.

The centre-back came through the youth system at before joining in 2016. He played a key role in the ‘ Under-23’s Professional Development North title win last season, and will wear the number 12 shirt at the Wham Stadium.

The 20-year-old spoke to Accrington’s official website about his excitement at the move: “I’m really pleased to be here. I’ve been looking to get out on loan for about a year now, to get the chance to come and play for a club like Accrington in League Two is a great opportunity for me.

“I’m here to help the team in whatever way that I can. I want to be strong at the back, keep clean sheets and try to keep us at the top end of the table.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the lads and getting to work in training. Hopefully my performances can benefit the club as much as the experience will benefit myself.”

Stanley currently lie in sixth place in the League Two table, registering two wins, a draw and a loss in their opening four games. They drew 2-2 at on Friday night.
