Chesterfield clinch loan signing of Wigan defender Kellett

The Spireites bring in defensive reinforcements with the signing of Wigan full-back Andy Kellett on loan until the end of the season.

manager has brought a familiar face in to the Proact Stadium today, with versatile full-back Andy Kellett signing from on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old started his career with home town club , before embarking on loan spells with and . He joined Wigan in 2015 but has struggled for consistent game time at the DW Stadium.

Caldwell was thrilled to bring in Kellett, telling Chesterfield’s official website: “Andy has played at left-back and left win-back and he gives us great versatility down that left-hand side.

“He’s very quick with great dribbling skills and he’s going to be a massive addition to the squad.”

Kellett said: “I can’t wait to play some games and hopefully help the club win promotion. When the manager came calling I jumped at the chance because of what we did at Wigan.”

Chesterfield currently lie in 19th place in , with one win and two losses from their opening three league fixtures. The are hoping to bounce back to the third tier at the first time of asking, following their bottom placed finish last time out.
