Town manager Nathan has said is side “don't know how to grind out a win” after they were held to a draw away at last night.

The race for promotion in is hotting up, and the are one of the form teams in the division, having lost just once in their last 10 games, but three draws consecutive draws means they are five points off the top three.

Top-scorer put Luton ahead from the spot after just five minutes at Rodney Parade, but Sean Rigg hauled Newport level and despite the fact the struggling Welsh side played the final nine minutes with 10 men after Mark O'Brien received a second yellow card, Luton couldn't find a winner.

Jones was left extremely frustrated and told Three Counties Radio: “We've only lost once in four games, but we've only taken three points. Now we have eight games to go – it's a shootout.

“We played too any powder-puff crosses or little passes when we want a killer instinct.

“It has to mean more to the [the players]. It's livelihoods. It's promotion. It can make or break them.”

While Luton were left disappointed at not taking all three points back to Bedfordshire, Newport's manager Mike Flynn was far happier and said: “The fight the players are showing and the chances they are creating now is very encouraging.

“It's not impossible [to stay up] but it's some mountain to climb. We've got some tough games coming up. I'm confident and believe in the players.”
