Fulham appoint ex-Watford boss Jokanovic

Fulham have appointed Serbian manager Slavisa Jokanovic as their new manager.

The 47-year-old won promotion to the Premier League last season, and joins Craven Cottage as the successor to Kit Symons who was sacked early last month.

Leaving Watford in May 2015 due to contract talks breaking down, Jokanovic took over the reins at Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv in June. Where he guided Israel’s oldest club to the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time.

For his services, Fulham have agreed to pay Maccabi £367,000 in compensation.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan, had approached and interviewed a number of candidates including a failed attempt to lure Steve Clarke, who would later leave his post.

Khan expressed his satisfaction at the conclusion of the process having interviews, “many quality candidates for what we considered to be one of the best positions in football.”

“Slavisa’s credentials and passion for the job rose to the top through every stage of this process, and we cannot wait to welcome him to Motspur Park and Craven Cottage,” Khan added.

Fulham lay in 18th place in the Championship after five wins in 23 games and host Neil Redfearn’s Rotherham side on Tuesday night.
