Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross set to join Inter Miami

Stoke manager Michael O’Neill has confirmed that Stoke Legend Shawcross is likely to leave the club for MLS side Inter Miami

Ryan Shawcross is on the verge of joining David Beckham owned MLS side Inter Miami.

The captain is close to agreeing a move to the United States – this will see an end to Shawcross’s 13 years of service for the Potters.

A deal is believed to be imminent between the two clubs with Shawcross “keen to see things move forward” according to boss Michael O’Neill.

O’Neill hasn’t fretted over losing the club’s long-standing skipper, as he admitted to the Press: “I give him my blessing.”

“It’s come at a good time in his career,” said O’Neill.

“This is a great opportunity for him. He’s had a fantastic career here and given his all for Stoke City.

“But he wants to explore opportunities and, if that is to see out his career in the MLS, then I give him my blessing.”

The former international made a total of 401 appearances for the Potters over the course of 13 seasons.

The majority of centre-backs appearances for the club came during its golden years in the , which spanned from 2008 till relegation to the in 2018.
