Brentford have their next two Championship fixtures postponed

After the latest round of Covid-19 testing Brentford have postponed their next two fixtures and closed their training ground

Brentford’s Championship fixtures against Bristol City tomorrow, Wednesday 13 January, and Reading on Saturday, 16 January, will now have to be played at a later date.

After the latest round of Covid-19 testing yesterday, Brentford FC had to report new positive tests to the EFL.

The Bees have reported that the EFL medical advisor has told them that the best response would be to close their training ground and continue further rounds of testing.

In a club statement, Brentford communicated what their plan is to combat the spread of Covid-19 at the club.

“We informed the EFL that we would be unable to fulfil the fixtures following the tests, the closure of the Training Ground and the requirement for players and staff to self-isolate as per EFL and Government guidance in order to mitigate against the risk of further infection.”

Brentford had already confirmed that December’s Manager of the Month Thomas Frank had tested positive for Covid-19 last week. The club have not named any other positive tests at the club, due to medical confidentiality.
