David Perkins makes switch to Rochdale

After surviving relegation in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season, have begun preparations for next season by signing midfielder David Perkins.

The 35-year-old played 21 times for title winners Athletic this season but has opted to join at Rochdale for the next campaign.

Perkins spent a season long loan with for the 2007-08 campaign and the midfielder admitted that he was excited to return to the Greater Manchester club.

The former C international told Rochdale’s official club website, “I’m very pleased to be back. The 10 years since I was last here has flown by, to be honest. It only seems like yesterday since I was here, so I’m very pleased to be back and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.

“Keith Hill has been top-drawer with me over the years. I played with him at and came to work under him at Rochdale from there, and I also worked with him at , so I know what he’s like and I’m looking forward to working with him again.”
